What organizations are eligible for a grant from Health Foundation of South Florida?
We make most of our grants to tax-exempt agencies classified as 501(c) (3) organizations and public charities as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. We also provide grant support to local and State government agencies. The programs we consider for support are located in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, or will directly benefit residents in those areas.
Do you accept proposals from individuals?
We do not accept proposals from individuals, only from eligible qualifying organizations.
If denied a grant request, can we reapply?
If a request has been denied, reapplication for the same grant is acceptable. However, it is suggested that the proposal be strengthened to ensure it is in line with the Foundation's mission and goals. In addition, the Foundation encourages you to give us a call so that we may discuss the program or service that you think has merit and can benefit our community.
If we are preparing a preliminary proposal, what must we do?
A two-page preliminary proposal form must be completed. Our Web site's Applicant Section of the Grant Toolbox has the form for you to download, or you may call us at 305.374.7200.
Can we submit a preliminary proposal at anytime?
Yes you can submit a preliminary proposal at anytime, but reviews are made only during our semi-annual grant cycles. The dates of the grant cycles are posted under Grant Programs.
If a Preliminary Application is submitted through the Internet, should a hard copy be mailed as well?
No, please do not send a duplicate request unless you are requested to do so.
What is the average size and duration of grants?

How many grants do you award each year?
Approximately 35-45 grants a year.
Do you have formal application forms for full proposals?
