Reoccurring Grants

There are five areas of community need that have warranted reoccurring support due to their long-term or cyclical nature. The five areas include:

Concern Awards Grants: The Concern Awards recognize individuals who, through outstanding community accomplishments and service, have enhanced the health and wellness of residents in any of the three counties served by the Foundation. The community nominates deserving individuals, and an independent panel of judges narrows the field to six finalists. The two top award recipients each receive a $25,000 grant and four finalists each receive a $10,000 grant for the local health or health-related nonprofit organization of their choice.

Nursing Scholarship Grants: Broward Community College, Florida International University and Miami-Dade College each receive funding on an annual basis for tuition, books and related student expenses to help those who otherwise could not afford higher education to obtain a nursing degree.

Sponsorships for Grantee Events: Nonprofits in South Florida have established a fund raising culture though special events. Supporting grantees through their events champions their efforts and motivates other donors. Sponsorships have been expanded to supporting professional health related meetings or seminars held locally.

Technology Technical Assistance and Mini-Grants: The Foundation invests in the effectiveness and efficiency of improving nonprofits through assessing organizational technology needs and supporting technology solutions through a circuit rider service and mini-grant program. A core group of consultants will perform technology assessments and make recommendations. Organizations may receive up to $10,000 for limited software or hardware purchases.
