This past year has been a time of commemoration for Health Foundation of South Florida; our 25th anniversary of being an investor and catalyst for collaborations, policy and systems change that improves the health of South Florida communities, with a focus on vulnerable, low to moderate-income populations.
It has also been a period of great progress and planning. Knowing that yesterday’s logic may not be enough to impact today’s community needs, Health Foundation focused on a new vision of how we will work to build a stronger, more resilient region.
The Foundation’s direction will move from the inspiration and charitable purposes of non-profits to the activation of solutions to social and economic problems. Our aim is to help drive social change by paying attention to a broader environment, which affects health and creates public policies, systems change, and advocating for low and moderate-income residents in the neighborhoods.
This calls for us to become more collaborative in achieving our community’s shared goals, which include increasing health access, reducing disparities and creating health equity, diversity and inclusion. We would not move in a narrow lane lined with logic models and a confined timeline. Instead, we will search for the emergence of root causes and a strategy with tactics to eliminate those causes. And we will incorporate the insights of outstanding leaders like you who share the vision for a stronger South Florida.
Many foundations across the country are transforming themselves to transform change. This is our time. We are increasing cross sector collaborative conversations with funders, providers and elected officials as we seek answers and address areas like funding periods for our projects, measuring impact and increasing the sustainability of all of our resources in order to make lasting change.
Health Foundation of South Florida’s Board of Directors and staff are energized and on track for what we can accomplish as a region in the year ahead. But we know we cannot get there alone, and there is great power in collaboration. Together, we can build a stronger South Florida.
And so, as the year winds down, and we all take time to give more to others and reflect on everything good in our lives, Health Foundation of South Florida is very grateful for you. We wish you and your loved ones a healthy and happy holiday and look forward to working with you in the year ahead.
